Growing up in the Bronx, Crash began his career at age 13. He was first noticed for his murals on subway cars and buildings. He later transferred his art from the street to canvases, and has since exhibited at museums worldwide. In 1996, Crash painted a signature Stratocaster as a gift for musician Eric Clapton. Clapton used this guitar throughout his 2001 tour. He collaborated with Fender, Tumi, and Stussy on limited edition collections, and was commissioned to paint murals for the Bronx Zoo, Bronx Museum, and Public Art Fund, NYC. Recognized as a fine artist, Crash is considered a pioneer of the graffiti movement. Crash's work is in collections at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Brooklyn, and private collections worldwide.
